McKinsey: How IT security is changing as companies move to public cloud
Cloud adoption is accelerating as companies turn to public-cloud platforms for increased technical flexibility, simpler scaling, and lower operating costs. But these new benefits require new approaches — particularly when it comes to security.
Executives charged with keeping their companies’ data and applications secure and compliant must rethink their approach to IT security. New research from McKinsey shows that those who do will find that public cloud platforms can reduce costs while expanding security controls and capabilities.
McKinsey conducted in-depth interviews with security experts at nearly 100 companies, revealing that today’s security models — many of which center on legacy systems — will soon be replaced by new approaches both driven and enabled by the cloud. Leveraging the expertise of Google Cloud security experts and McKinsey security analysts, the report gives leaders a clear roadmap for implementing IT security in the cloud.
